LED lighting has been a great solution to illuminate different spaces, not only because the energy consumption is very low, but it allows it to be even much more customizable. Strip lights make this possible, so if you are interested, you can buy here.

LED strip lights have become a favorite among adults and young people to illuminate and highlight different spaces and surfaces. They are considered a lighting trend not only at the domestic level, but also at the business level.

The possibility of illuminating many spaces, in different colors, with minimum energy consumption, has made everyone have one at home and the truth is, they are very easy to install.

The versatility of LED strip lights allows them to be used in different spaces and you don’t need a professional technician to install them. You just need to pay attention to certain details and from the rest, use your imagination and creativity.

One of the things you should know is that strip lights generally come in rolls of 5 meters and depending on the model, you can get 30, 60, or 120 LEDs per meter. LED lighting also has its types, so it would also be good to check the SMD ones.

Many of the strips have an adhesive that runs the entire length so they can be installed on smooth surfaces.

Evaluate the space

The first thing to do before installing LED strip lights is to evaluate the space and surface where you are going to install them. For that it is advisable to measure all the space and calculate how many meters you need.

Ideally, you should buy at least a couple of meters more, it is always preferable to have more than enough. This way if there is a mistake during installation, you will have more meters of strips available to continue.

Be careful when cutting the strip

You do not need to use special scissors to cut the strip, but you should pay close attention to how you are going to do it. It is advisable to cut outside the line of the lights or leave a space of a few centimeters.

If you cut the strip of lights, none of them will light up, so always keep in mind to cut leaving space from the LEDs to avoid damaging them.

Choose the right transformer

Strip lights should be installed according to their length, and based on these characteristics you will be able to choose the transformer you need to be able to turn it on and have it work properly.

Remember that transformers work according to watts. Generally strip lights need at least 12W, so make sure you choose a transformer that supports this power.

There are transformers that have a “switching” option, which allows them to withstand voltage changes.

Make several tests before installation

Many people install strip lights without making sure that they all light up correctly. After you have installed them, it will be much more complicated to make all the tests and connections.

For this reason, it is important that before you start attaching them to a surface, you make sure that the connections are good, that the system is well connected and that there will not be an electrical hazard that could damage the strip and the whole system. Once the connections are good, then install the strip lights.
